Richard L. Bennett, age 72, of Higgins Lake, died on June 9, 2019, at home in the presence and comfort of his wife, Christy.
Rick was born December 19, 1946 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Walton and Marian (Amsbaugh) Bennett. Rick served his country in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1968.
Rick married Christine M. Niver on September 23, 1972 in Leslie, Michigan. He attended Lansing Community College from 1970 to 1972. Rick and Christy moved to Northern Michigan in 1972. Rick continued his education by attending Kirtland Community College using the G. I. Bill to study the Natural Resource Program. Rick enjoyed staying busy. He loved his dogs, repairing bicycles, skiing and swimming, motorcycling and target shooting, woodworking and collecting “stuff” with Christy, just to name a few.
Rick will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by
his beloved wife Christy; his sister JoAnna Bennett of Leslie, Michigan; his nephew Jon Fiser of Leslie, Michigan; not to forget his Lab, “Pistol Peet”.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents and nephew Danny.
A memorial service for Rick will be held later in the summer.
The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Rick’s name to The Salvation Army and the Roscommon County Animal Control.
