Patricia Helen Groover Janisse

Patricia Helen Groover Janisse, 81 of Roscommon passed away on October 19, 2018 at home with family members by her side. Patricia was born on March 18, 1937 in Pontiac.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday, October 22, 2018 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. Father Richard Schaeffer officiating, and internment was in Pioneer Cemetery, Roscommon.

Patricia ‘Pat’ married Andre ‘Andy’ Janisse on June 25, 1955 in Farmington, and raised nine children in Clarkston, before relocating to Roscommon in 1969. She is survived by her husband of 63 years and children, Theresa (Ken) Ames of Clare, Edmund Janisse of Baraga, Valerie Janisse of Kalamazoo, Andre (Trina) Janisse, and Patricia Stephan-Bradford of Roscommon, Danielle (Randy) Troub of Glen Rose Texas, James (Mardy) Janisse of Elk Rapids, and Michael Janisse of Roscommon; two sisters Catherine (Russ) Tomes of St. Helen, and Sharon (Don) Foehr of Ocala, Florida; brother, Keenan (Sue) Hoag of Goodview Virginia; and brothers-in-law Maurice (Jeanne) Janisse of Roscommon, and George (Lois) Janisse of Rockville.

Pat loved spending time with her twenty-six grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. She was a loving aunt to over fifty nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Preceding her in death were her daughter, Anne Catherine; grandson, Joshua Edmund; great granddaughter, Paige Elizabeth; infant, Ames; her mother Helen Catherine (Kilroy) Groover Zbikowski; step father, Edmund Zbikowski; father, Harold Vincent Groover Hoag; sister, Mary Jeanne (Groover) Dowd; and two brothers John W. O. Groover, and Edmund Zbikowski.

Pat was a stay at home mother for twenty years when she entered the work force as Public Guardian and Conservator for the Probate Court system of Roscommon, County. Her capacity to love allowed her to take care of others who had no one else to love, care for, or guide them through the path of their lives. Pat retired after thirty years of service to those who needed her. During her career, Pat served on the Recipients Rights Advisory Committee with Northern Lakes Community Mental Health Authority from 2003 to 2017.

Pat was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Orion for fourteen years and a member of Saint Michael’s Catholic Church for forty-nine years. She was a crafty person from candle making, beaded ornaments, to stain glasswork. She loved to create silk flower arrangements for masses, events and weddings, family, friends, and her office. She was passionate about her flower garden, and she loved being in and around water, loved horses, birds, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her husband at various casinos.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that individuals consider memorial contributions to the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Walsh Funeral Home handled the final arrangements.
