John Thomas Nellist of Roscommon

John Thomas Nellist, 69, of Roscommon passed away Jan. 10, 2018 at his home.

John was born May 3, 1948 in Grayling to Frank Burt and Jane (Zettle) Nellist. He resided in Roscommon since 1991, formerly of Porter Ranch in Missaukee County. He grew up in the Higgins Lake area.

John married Catherine J. Earley March 23, 1977 in Roscommon.

He was a Wildlife Technician for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for 35 Years.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge for 15 years, on the board of Higgins Lake Utility Authority for eight years.

Surviving are his wife, Cathy Nellist; children, Jason C. Nellist of Beulah and Marcie (Matthew) Nellist-Johnson of The Dalles, Oregon; grandchildren, Sarah and Caroline; three brothers, Ed (Diane) Nellist, Jim Nellist, and Billy Nellist; nephew, Jonathan Nellist and ‘Ebenezer’, the dog.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services were held Jan. 14, 2018 at Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon with Ron Peters officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the family for a charity to be determined later.
