Kevin James Sperry of Houghton Lake

Kevin James Sperry, 55, of Houghton Lake passed away October 7, 2017 at his home.

He was born on November 16, 1961 in Grayling to James and Sally (Shiemke) Sperry and grew up in the Houghton Lake area, graduating from Houghton Lake Community Schools in 1980. He graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor’ Degree in Education.

Mr. Sperry was employed as a teacher by Harrison Community Schools for the past 26 years. He served on the Roscommon Township Zoning Board and Roscommon Township Planning Commission. He enjoyed boating and especially spending time with friends and family.

Surviving are his two daughters, Ariel (Michael) Cottee and Brooklyn (Chris) Scott, both of Houghton Lake; grandson, Easton Cottee; granddaughter, Remi Scott; mother; Sally (Ray) Beauchamp of Escanaba; sister, Karen Wallaker of Cadillac; and niece, Carly Wallaker of Muskegon.

He was preceded in death by his father, James M. Sperry.

Memorial Services will be conducted at a later date.

Memorial contributions in memory of Kevin are asked to be directed to the Houghton Lake Heights Park Fund, checks can be made out to Roscommon Township, Sperry Memorial Fund, P.0. Box 610, Houghton Lake, Michigan 48629.
