Theresa Clara Gronczewski of Prudenville

Theresa Clara Gronczewski, 89, of Prudenville, passed away May 28, 2017 at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.

She was born on June 27, 1927 in Detroit to Edward and Clara Piper, and grew up in the area, graduating from the Felician Academy. On May 17, 1947 in Detroit she and Richard P. Gronczewski were married.

Mrs. Gronczewski was employed as a secretary by General Motors for many years before retiring. Theresa and Richard owned a cabin in the Prudenville area since 1972 and she moved from Livonia to Prudenville permanently in 2014.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and enjoyed crocheting, gardening and canning. She especially enjoyed the deer that frequently visited her home.

Surviving are her two daughters, Kathleen (Ray) Golota of Commerce Township, and Carol (Larry) Respondek of Prudenville; three sons, Richard M. (Sandra) Gronczewski of Presque Isle, Dennis (Debra) Gronczewski of Ft. Myers, FL, and Kenneth (Cheryl) Gronczewski of Livonia; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are sister, Sylvia Shinska of Romeo; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard P. Gronczewski; and brother, Justin Piper.

Visitation is today (June 1) from 2-7 p.m. at Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 12:30pm June 2 from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Larry Sergott officiating.

Interment will be in Denton Township Cemetery, Prudenville.

Memorial contributions in memory of Theresa are asked to be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
