Gracia D. Rose of Houghton Lake

Gracia D. Rose, 81, of Houghton Lake passed away April 13, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on March 19, 1936 in Port Huron to Dorwin and Francis (Meinke) Black. She grew up in Port Huron and graduated from Port Huron High School. She was married on June 18, 1956 in Port Huron to Jerry D. Rose.

Mrs. Rose was employed as a cafeteria worker by K-Mart of Waterford for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Waterford Elks, and a member of the Houghton Lake Eagles. She loved flowers and sewing, and she often would enjoy babysitting children for family and friends when they had to work. Gracia was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Surviving are her loving husband of 61 years, Jerry D. Rose of Houghton Lake; three sons, Gregory (Kathy) Rose of Waterford, Kerry Rose of Houghton Lake, and Kevin Rose of Lowell; two daughters, Kimberly (Ricky) Danton of Waterford, and Cheryl (Mark) Schasser of Croswell; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are sister, Judith (Doug) Beard of FL; brother, David (Sharon) Black of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Gayle Black.

Visitation is today (April 18) from 3-7 p.m. at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel. Chapel services for Gracia D. Rose will be conducted at 2 p.m. April 20 from Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Gracia are asked to be directed to the family.

Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
