Kenneth Lee McKeage of Manistique

Kenneth Lee McKeage, 66, of Manistique passed away suddenly Jan. 29, 2017 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, WI.

He was born Oct 18, 1950 in Saginaw to Chester and Velta Eleizabeth (Davis) McKeage. He married Beatrice A. Carter Nov. 29, 1969 in Roscommon.

He was raised and lived in Roscommon until 1991, graduating from Roscommon High school, and attended Kirtland and Delta Community Colleges. He also resided in Bessemer until 1994, Escanaba until 1997, Curtis until 2011, and then moved to Manistique.

Mr. McKeage was employed as a maintenance supervisor at Camp Nakomis, Bay Pines Youth Facility in Escanaba and finally at Newberry Correctional Facility until his retirement in 2009. He also helped construct and facilitate Bay Pines.

He was a former member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Roscommon, and is currently a member at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Manistique.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Bea; three children, Melissa (Brian) Kast of Westby, WI, Patrick of Manistique and Scott (Andrea) of Curtis; nine grandchildren, Brianna, Alisa and Kenneth Kast, and Liam, Logan, Peyton, Kealin, Mostyn and Persson McKeage; brother, Tim (Frankie) of Houston, TX; and sister, Colleen (David) Austin of St. Helen.

Funeral services were conducted at St. Helen Catholic Church with Fr. Lawrence Sergott officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, St. Helen.

Memorial requests may be made to St. Helen Catholic Church.

Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon served the family.
