Yvonne S. Snabes of Higgins Lake

Yvonne S. Snabes, of Higgins Lake, formerly of Garden City, passed away Nov. 15, at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City.

Born September 3, 1933 in Detroit, she was the daughter of Carl A. and Jeanne (DeVigan) Kohlstrand. She was a proud graduate of St. Mary’ Academy of Monroe.

She married the love of her life, Casmir J. Snabes, on April 25, 1953 in Dearborn. They spent 63 years together and raised five sons.

She served on the Roscommon County Board of Canvassers, was a member of the Sweet Adelines and had been employed over the years doing automotive accounting and working at the J.L. Hudson Company. Her faith and family were significant aspects of Yvonne’ life. She was a member of the St. Hubert Catholic Church Choir at Higgins Lake where she and Casmir were long time parishioners.

Mrs. Snabes had a passion for cooking and in making family events memorable. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was an active and devoted grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Casmir; her children, Timothy C. (Susan) Snabes of Jefferson, GA, Darryl J. (Frances Farley) Snabes of Ann Arbor, Christopher C. (Mauraleen) Snabes of Charlevoix, and Paul A. (Jennifer) Snabes of Jackson; grandchildren, Jeffery (Erin), Erik (Kate), Kristen (Clayton), Anne, Patrick, Darryl Stephen, Nicholas, Alexandria, Blaise, Olivia, Elina and Samantha; and four great-grandchildren;

Also surviving are brother, Norman Kohlstrand of Riverview; sister-in-law, Beverly Kohlstrand of Dearborn, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son Ronald S. Snabes, her parents and her brother Armand Kohlstrand. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 25 from 3-7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. all at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 7612 West Higgins Lake Dr., Roscommon. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
