Lorrayne Parker of Prudenville

Lorrayne Parker, 98, of Prudenville passed away October 29, 2016 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on March 30, 1918 in Cheboygan to Frederick and Laura (Purdy) Rossier, and grew up in Detroit, graduating from Detroit Southeastern. She was employed as a service person by Sears for many years in the Detroit area.

She was married October 3, 1967 in Detroit to Dennis Parker. The couple moved to Mid Forest Lodge in 1972 where they were caretakers until moving to Houghton Lake in 1980.

Mrs. Parker was a member of Houghton Lake United Methodist Church, past president of the United Methodist Women, Houghton Lake Lioness, where she served as district president and received the highest award given by the Lioness Club, the Cosek Lee Award, We Care Project, Toys for Tots, Back Packs for Kids, and the Houghton Lake Merchants Association. She was a past Grand Marshall of Tip Up Town.

Surviving are her daughter, Joyce (Terry) Parker of Prudenville; step-son, Rodger (Jennifer) Parker of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Riley (Justin) Bucci, Maddie Parker, and Neal (Mandee) Parker; and great-grandchildren, Makaylah and Tanealle.

Also surviving is sister, Bonnie Ruwoldt of GA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis Parker; great-grandson, Ashton Parker; two sons, Don Neal, and Ed (Karen) Valentine; two brothers, Mick Rossier, and Bill Rossier; and two sisters, Betty Rossier, Barbara Gilpatrick, and Joyce Davis.

Visitation is November 2 from 4-7 p.m. at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. November 3 from Houghton Lake United Methodist Church with Lay Minister Sue Lazell officiating.

Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake.

Memorial contributions in memory of Lorrayne are asked to be directed to Munson Hospice. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
