Micahel James Mesler of St. Helen

Michael James Mesler, 60, of St. Helen passed away July 17, 2016 at West Branch Medical Center.

A life celebration will be held at the Mesler Family Cabin on Decker Road, 1.8 miles North of M-76, between Roscommon and St. Helen on July 23 at 10 a.m.

James was born Nov. 16, 1955 in Midland to James Russell Mesler and Ilah Mae (Voorheis) Mesler. He has lived in St. Helen since 2002, Higgins Lake for one year and Houghton Lake for 13 years, coming from Roscommon.

Mr. Mesler was a builder, employed for 10 years by Two Lakes Builders; Mike Detmer Construction for four years and had been self-employed as a builder for two years.

He was a member of the St. Helen American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, telling stories and spending time at the Mesler family cabin. Mike served in the U.S. Army from 1974-1977.

Surviving are two sons, Joshua Mesler and Adam Mesler, both of Houghton Lake; one brother, Jim (Linda) Mesler of Roscommon; five sisters, Pat Navarro of Traverse City, Jan (Bob) Bradford of South Dakota, Mary Peterson of Traverse City, Lyn (Don) Titchenell of Roscommon and Sherry Watters of Ohio; and his significant other, Lynn Grablick of St. Helen.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Memorial requests may be made to the family.

Arrangements were handled by Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon.
