Marion Michalowicz, 93, of Higgins Lake, passed away July 4, 2016 at her home.
Marion was born Aug. 21, 1922 in Detroit to George and Lottie (Wierzbinski) Kowalczyk.
She married Casimer ‘Cass’ E. Michalowicz on April 19, 1981 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Harper Woods. He preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 2006. She also was preceded in death by her first husband Richard Michalowicz.
Mrs. Michalowicz was an elementary school teacher at many Catholic schools, including St. Veronica in Detroit, and 5th grade at Our Lady of the Lake in Prudenville from 1976 to 1983.
She was a member of St. Hubert Catholic Church, Higgins Lake, St. Hubert CWC, a volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul of Roscommon, and called Bingo games at Hilltop Manor Health Care Center in Roscommon. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, gardening and travel. She enjoyed making donations to the Indians as often as possible and she also started an investment club with some of her friends.
Surviving are four sons, Jerry Michalowicz of Jackson, Paul (Nancy) Michalowicz of Houghton Lake, Edward (Jackie) Michalowicz of Harrison Twp. and Michael Michalowicz of Tampa, FL; stepson, Bob (Sherry) Michalowicz of Harrison Twp.; daughter-in-law, Sylvia Michalowicz of Macomb Twp.; son-in-law, Jim Wood of Clio; 22 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard and Cass Michalowicz; daughters, Christine Hollis ad Donna Wood; son, Richard Michalowicz Jr.; and grandson, Richard Hollis.
Visitation will be at St. Hubert Church today (July 6) from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. and July 7 from10 a.m. until Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. officiated by Fr. Bernard Tyler.
Burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Hubert Church or to St. Vincent DePaul Society of Roscommon.
