Charlene Judith Titchenell of Roscommon

Charlene Judith (Keaton) Titchenell, 75, of Roscommon, was ushered into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, May 23, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family.

Charlene was born on October 6, 1940 in Detroit. She was the fourth child of Edward and Natalie Keaton. Her siblings included Shirley, Edward and Sharren; as well as a second set of siblings from her father and step-mother, Bertha ‘Boots’; Kathy, Fred and Kelly. She was raised by her paternal grandparents, Fred and Florence Keaton, whom she truly adored. She met the love of her life, James Titchenell, on a blind date. They were married on February 8, 1958 in Mt. Clemens and the love affair continues to this date. Together they welcomed six children into their lives. Charlene felt that her greatest accomplishment was her role as a wife and mother.

After moving to Roscommon from New Haven in 1978, she was ready to take on another role and became employed outside the home. She thoroughly enjoyed her 17 year career, 1986 to 2004 at Glen’ Market in Roscommon. She spoke highly of her co-workers and her customers called her ‘Long Line Charlene’ due to the fact that they were willing to wait in her line just to catch a glimpse of her smile and her friendly conversation. She was fondly called ‘Grandma’ by all of the little shoppers who looked forward to getting a treat from ‘Grandma Char’ at the end of their shopping experience.

Charlene is survived by James, her husband of 58 years; children, Jamie (Tim) Nelson of Boyne City, Cheryl (Chip) Maxwell of Cheboygan, Christine (Roy) Hartman of Cheboygan, James (Kim) Titchenell of Brighton, CO and Charlene (Richard) Perry of Roscommon; grandchildren, Dallas (Samantha) Wallace, Travis (Shianne) Nelson, Dylan Nelson, Stephanie (Daniel) Maxwell-Marquez, Joshua (Elyse) Maxwell, Adam Maxwell, Kayla (Jordan) Carlson, Caleb (Jenna) Hartman, Keegan (Amy) Hartman, Eric , Travis and Sara Titchenell and Shelby, Kyle and Kalvin Perry; great-grandchildren, Dalton Wallace, Ellie Mae Nelson, Emma, Elizabeth, Shelby and Samantha Maxwell, Paisley, Aldon and Liam Hartman and Zachary and Matthew Titchenell; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; sisters, Sharren Vaughn of Houghton Lake, Kathy and Kelly; brother, Fred and estranged daughter Debra Royce.
