Gordon G. Willis of Roscommon

Gordon G. Willis, 74, passed away April 12, 2016 at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.

Gordon was born In Shepherd Dec. 23, 1941 to James Clifford and Olive (Blizzard) Willis. He married Robin L. (Henderson) on Dec. 9, 1983 in Indianapolis, Ind.

Mr. Willis resided in the Roscommon area since 1984, Indiana from 1972 to 1984, coming from Mt. Pleasant. He was a chef at The Embers and sold furniture and appliances at Gray’ Household, both in Mt. Pleasant, carpet sales and wholesale manager at Ridge Co. in Indianapolis, Ind., manager at the Holiday Inn of Houghton Lake and was the Building Supervisor for Two Lakes Building Corp. for 25 years, retiring in 2010.

He was a past member of the Houghton Lake Elks. He and Robin were tireless volunteers for the Mercy Hospice Richard ‘Dick’ Dworzynski Golf Fundraiser. He was an event coordinator at Tip-Up Town for more than five years. He was Roscommon County Commissioner for District 1 from 1988-1990. He enjoyed golf, bowling and sports of all kinds, and was always gregarious.

Surviving are his wife, Robin; four children, Zach of Roscommon, Clifford (Char) of Mt. Pleasant, Lea Ann (Mark) Anderson of Traverse City and Dan (Theresa) of Indianapolis, Ind.; and eight grandchildren, Alex, Ashley, Ben, Chloe, Maggie, Clare, Amy and Maximilian.

Also surviving are his sister, Phyllis Gilmore of Shepherd; four sisters-in-law, Mary Hardwick, Lois Baker, Lillian (Tom) Voller and Louise (Dale) Andrew, all of Ind.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Amy Sue Schuster; and brother, Bruce Willis.

Funeral services were held at Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon with Lea Ann Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens of Mt. Pleasant.

Memorial donations may be made to the family for a charity to be determined later.
