ROSCOMMON – The Roscommon Village water tower has been drained since mid-July for repainting, both inside and out. The village water supply has been dependent only on the three wells until the tower can be refilled.
Painting contractors from Hastings were busy July 26 working from a high bucket truck, performing inspections on their completed work.
The tower’ colors have been changed somewhat. The top of the dome, or reservoir, will still be a light cream color, but the bottom of the dome and the pedestal have been changed to a darker reddish brown color so that the dust and dirt, that cling to those outside portions over time, are not obvious and unattractive.
The village public works crew said that the tower won’t be ready for public use until several required lab tests are performed. The tower will be filled and lab tested; drained and filled again, and again lab tested before the water to residents and businesses will flow once again from the tower.
