OTSEGO COUNTY- The Michigan State Police Gaylord Post announced the promotion of Trooper James Everidge to Captain in the Army National Guard.

A Woodhaven native, Everidge joined the National Guard in 2016 and the MSP in 2018 after being inspired to serve while interning at the Brighton Post. He has served in Alpena and now Gaylord, building a career focused on protecting and supporting Michigan communities.

Everidge was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2018, promoted to First Lieutenant in 2020, and reached the rank of Captain in January 2026. He encourages fellow troopers to consider the Guard, citing strong leadership opportunities and meaningful service.

MSP leadership praised his dedication, calling him an outstanding example of service both in uniform and in the community.
