Gaylord native charged with death of motorcyclist

CRAWFORD COUNTY – At 1 a.m. on Aug. 1, 2020 the Michigan State Police (MSP) troopers from the Houghton Lake post were dispatched to Lovells Road near County Road 612 in Lovells Township regarding a single-vehicle crash of a motorcycle.

The investigation revealed the motorcycle had been struck from behind, throwing the rider, 56-year-old Troy David Lambert of Grayling, from the motorcycle. The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene.

Lambert was transported to Munson Hospital in Traverse City where he later died from his injuries. The investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued in October for 37-year-old Sheena Orise Brandenburg from Gaylord.

Brandenburg and Lambert had both been at a local tavern and a short time later she struck Lambert from behind. Brandenburg did not report the crash or stop to assist Lambert. When Troopers identified Brandenburg as the possible driver, she had already left Michigan.

MSP found last in November that she was living in Elsberry, Missouri. Law enforcement officials in Missouri were notified of the warrant and the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office authorized extradition.

Brandenburg was arrested by the Elsberry Police Department and lodged in the Lincoln County Missouri Jail. She was later extradited and lodged in the Crawford County Jail.

She was arraigned on March 8, 2021 in the 46th District Court in Crawford County for one count Reckless Driving Causing Death and one count Failure to Stop at Scene of Accident Resulting in Serious Impairment or Death.

Bond was set at $250,000 cash
