Camp Grayling firing schedule for Sept. 1-7

GRAYLING – It will continue to be very quiet out here at Camp Grayling Maneuver Training Center for the first part of the week.  There are no scheduled ranges until Saturday, September 7th.  Our small arms ranges south of Camp Grayling will be utilized for the next couple months as Michigan National Guard Soldiers will complete their annual qualification requirement with their assigned weapons.  On Saturday, September 7th and Sunday, September 8th, the Loomis Battery Historic Cannon shoot will be taking place out at Range 8 off of Howe road.  Residents who live in and around the south camp area of Camp Grayling may hear some small arms firing, along with some small explosions during this timeframe.

Out at Camp Grayling’s Multi-Purpose Range Complex also known as the Range 30 complex, located north of North Down River Road, east of Jones Lake Road, south of County Road 612 and west of Bald Hill Truck Trail.   All roads and trails west of Wakeley Bridge road, to include; Bucks East-West Truck Trail from Jones Lake Road to Wakeley Bridge Road, Ketchum Truck Trail from Bucks East-West to North Down River Road, and Stephen Bridge Road from County Road 612 to North Down River Road will be opened to civilian traffic.   Please respect all closed gates and do not enter these areas for your safety.   If you feel a gate is closed in error, please call Camp Grayling Headquarters at (989)344-6100 to verify the closure of the gate.

Camp Grayling’s Range 40 Complex, also known as the Air to Ground range will be active during this timeframe.   Range 40 is located north of County Road 612, east of Guthrie Lake, south of Old State Road 618 and west of County Road F97 (Twin Bridge Road).   Residents will hear or see some fixed aircraft.   Residents may see or hear the aircraft on Wednesday, September 4th, Thursday, September 5th and Saturday, September 7th.

If persons are looking for the most current information on the PFAS Water Contamination investigation, visit the Michigan PFAS Response Action Team (MPART) website, www.michigan.gov/pfasresponse.   The next public Restoration Advisory Board meeting will be Friday, August 30th, beginning at 1:30pm-3:00 pm held at the Grayling Charter Township hall.
