Range Report: Activites at Camp Grayling

GRAYLING AREA – Each week, the “Camp Grayling Range Report” is posted at UpNorthVoice.com to help keep the public informed and safe. The report is also available on social media platforms including the Grayling Visitor’s Bureau.

Range activity

  • 30 COMPLEX: All gates and trails are OPEN.

  • SOUTH CAMP near Lake Margrethe: INACTIVE.

  • 13 COMPLEX: INACTIVE.

  • 40 COMPLEX AIR-TO-GROUND RANGE in Waters: A10 aerial gunnery and bombing Monday–Wednesday.

Four major training complex areas

  • SOUTH CAMP (small arms ranges): West of Lake Margrethe, east of the pipeline; on Howe, Murphy and Daniels roads.

  • 13 COMPLEX and Light Demo Ranges 20-21 (mortars and demolition range): South end of Beaver Road in Crawford County and west of Engineer Valley in Kalkaska County.

  • 30 COMPLEX: Fenced range bounded by N. Down River Rd., Stephan Bridge Rd., Bucks E-W Truck Trail and Tank Trail parallel to Jones Lake Road. Weapon size determines road closure.

Temporary non-dudded impact areas

  • Small Fan/Surface Danger Zone: The 30 COMPLEX fenced area plus all roads and trails within the Surface Danger Zone gate fan, bounded by Stephan Bridge Rd., Dyer Truck Trl., Wakeley Bridge Rd. and an unnamed trail approximately 3 km south and parallel to Co. Hwy 612.

  • Large Fan/Surface Danger Zone: Includes the Small Fan, plus all roads and trails bounded by Wakeley Bridge Road, then east one mile to the intersection of N. Down River Road and Bald Hill Truck Trail, then north to an unnamed county trail approximately 4 km south of the Village of Lovells, then west parallel to Co. Hwy. 612 back to Wakeley Bridge Road.

  • 40 COMPLEX (artillery and air-to-ground range): Fenced area southeast of Marlette Road and southwest of Sand Lake Trail, west of Lonesome Lake Rd. and KP Truck Trail, and 2–2.25 km north of Co. Hwy. 612. Gates and barricades vary outside the fence based on weapon systems. Includes artillery firing points located around the entire range.
