NORTHERN MICHIGAN — Following nearly 60 mph wind gusts that swept across the state, additional crews from across the country — including Maryland, Alabama and Texas — and internationally from Canada are assisting Consumers Energy crews working around the clock to restore power.
“We understand how difficult the last few days have been for our customers and we appreciate their patience as our crews continue working to restore their power,” said Norm Kapala, one of Consumers Energy’s Officers in Charge for restoration.
“Even with the winds dying down across Michigan, we still are encouraging the public to be careful as they travel with multiple tress and branches on the road.”
Northwest and Mid-Michigan were hit especially hard in the latest round of storms. Consumers Energy is projecting all customers will be restored, including those in the hardest-hit areas, by end of day Wednesday.
Customers can check the status of outages at www.ConsumersEnergy.com/OutageCenter. They can also sign up for outage alerts and restoration updates sent by phone, email or text message by texting ‘REG’ to 232273 or visiting ConsumersEnergy.com/alerts.
