HARBOR SPRINGS – Two pipe bombs were found soon a thrift shop the day after the November election in Harbor Springs, according to a Michigan State Police (MSP) statement.
On Nov. 6 at approximately 2:15 p.m. troopers from the Gaylord Post were called to the New Beginnings Thrift Shop in Harbor Springs for several pipe bombs that had been found.
A worker picked up a donated box containing
numerous tools and moved them around to see what else was in the box. They found several items believed to be pipe bombs inside the box. The MSP Bomb Squad and an MSP Canine Team were also called to the scene.
The MSP Bomb Squad took an X-ray of the pipe bombs and found one of them to
contain a fuse and powder. The MSP Bomb Squad was able to render it safe and dispose of the bomb.
An explosive sweep of the business and surrounding area was conducted by the MSP Canine Team. No other explosive devices were located.
The case remains under investigation.
