NORTHEAST MICHIGAN — With summer season also comes road construction.
The Michigan Department of Transportation continues work 26 miles of highway in Presque Isle, Alcona, Iosco and Ogemaw counties.
The work includes four separate highway segments near Rogers City, Glennie, Whittemore and West Branch. MDOT said the project will extend the service life of the roads, provide a smoother driving surface and include new pavement markings.
Work is expected to be completed by July 17.
The project includes chip sealing M-68 from Schnepp Road to Curtis Road in Presque Isle County; Chip sealing M-65 from Kings Corner Road to Barnfield Road in Alcona County; Chip sealing M-65 from Turtle Road to M-55 in Iosco County; and repaving M-30 from the south Ogemaw County line to M-55 in Ogemaw County.
Drivers should expect shoulder closures and lane closures during the project. Traffic regulators will be used to direct vehicles through work zones.
