MSP canine tracks man who fled scene of crash

MIO – A Michigan State Police canine handler and his partner assisted the Oscoda County Sheriff’s Department with tracking a subject who fled the scene of a vehicle crash.

According to an MSP statement, on May 27, Tpr. Scruggs and his canine partner, Waco, responded to the area of Abbe Road near Eming Road in Comins Township. The pair tracked a 38-year-old man who was allegedly involved in a vehicle crash and fled from deputies on scene.

After approximately an eight-minute track, the 38-year-old suspect was found hiding in the woods. He was taken into custody by the Oscoda County Sheriff’s Office without incident.
