National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

REGION– Join the Medication Take Back event in Mt. Pleasant on Thurs., April 4 from 1 -4 p.m. They will be collecting unused, unwanted medications in CMDHD’s Mt. Pleasant office lobby.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day was established by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding homes of expired and/or unused prescription drugs. The previous National Take Back Day in October 2023 resulted in Americans turning in 300 tons of prescription drugs at 4,675 collection sites.

For those unable to attend this event, medication collection locations are available all year. Visit DEA’s year-round collection site locator to find your local spot. The Federal Drug Administration provides additional information on how to properly dispose of prescription drugs: https://www.fda.gov/consumers/consumerupdates/where-and-how-dispose-unused-medicines
