MISSAUKEE COUNTY – On Monday, January 15, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m. a trooper from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Cadillac Post was dispatched to a hit and run crash involving a pickup truck and a person on a bicycle.

According to a statement from MSP, the bicyclist suffered serious injuries, but they are not believed to be life-threatening.

The bicyclist was east bound on the shoulder of M-55 near Lachance Road when he was struck by an eastbound pickup truck. The victim stated the truck slowed down after hitting him but then fled east toward Lake City. The victim was wearing a headlamp and reflective high visibility vest, and his bicycle had reflective markers on it.

Based on damaged vehicle parts recovered at the scene, the State Police are looking for a 2017-2019 Chevrolet or GMC pickup unknown color with chrome plated mirrors. The passenger side mirror was broken off. There may be further damage to the passenger side or front passenger side damage.

Anyone with information is asked to call the MSP Cadillac Post at (231) 779-6040.
