GRAYLING – Deputies from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office reported an assault that temporarily shut down Grayling High School Nov. 4.
According to a statement from Sheriff Ryan Swope, a deputy was dispatched about 8:27 a.m. a deputy to 615 S. I 75 Business Loop for an assault complaint.
When the deputy arrived at the scene he spoke with the victim, a 48-year-old Grayling Township man. The victim said he had boiling hot water liquid thrown at him and was threatened with a knife.
The suspect, a 24-year-old Roscommon man, fled the scene on foot.
Officers from the Crawford County Sheriff Department, Michigan State Police K/9, and Grayling Public Safety started a search for the suspect. Information provided at the time indicated the suspect was in the area of Grayling High School.
The school entered Secure Mode for a short time with deputies present. It was deactivated when the suspect was found and taken into custody.
The victim was treated and released from Munson Hospital Grayling for burns on his hands and face.
The incident is still under investigation.
