Tawas man seeking vets for new DAV chapter

TAWAS – A new chapter of Disabled American Veterans is forming in Iosco County.

East Tawas resident Dennis Brown, a Vietnam vet, is paving the way for the new chapter, which will help area veterans seeking their state and federal benefits, as well as to provide a welcoming space to visit with vets from across the region.

The group needs 25 members to establish the charter and has 17 commitments so far.

As VA benefits and policies continue to change, it takes knowledge and persistence to understand benefits, file the right claims and see the process through. The ever-changing face of the military and of service itself means that DAV veterans may require support over their lifetime, depending on when, where and how they served. DAV helps guide vets through the process.

If you’re interested in being part of a great organization, call Dennis at 989-305-6634 or email michnamvet@charter.net.
