WASHINGTON D.C. – Former President Donald Trump has been indicted by a federal grand jury for attempting to fraudulently overturn the 2020 federal election, and to block the legal and peaceful transfer of power that has occurred in the United States for more than 240 years.

Prosecutors allege Trump used the authority of a justice department operative in an attempt to bully several states into changing their electors to Trump from Biden, the winner of the contest. It’s also alleged that he attempted to strongarm legislators, and congresspeople, with the support of multiple attorneys and compliant media outlets, into perpetuating a lie to the American public he had won the election, which he did not based on 61 legal challenges.
