Women’s Resource Center employee retires after 36 years

REGION- In early July, Chris Krajewski retired after 36 years with Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan (WRCNM). She has been an essential part of the agency’s history, growth, and success. Her retirement comes just after having received national recognition with a Lifetime Achievement Award through DomesticShelters.org.

In 1987, Krajewski moved from Green Bay, Wisconsin, to become Safe Home Director for WRCNM. Over the years, the job grew exponentially to the position of Director of Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Services. Chris directed programs that provide assistance and resources for survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking, stalking, sexual abuse, and other forms of gender-based violence. Not only has she been steadfast and loyal in her commitment to WRCNM, she has extended that same energy to survivors throughout her tenure.

Krajewski is described as being a dedicated mentor and leader with a can-do attitude who is courageous, empowering, passionate, and supportive.

“Her positive impact on this organization, the people she worked with, survivors, the greater community, and throughout Michigan is immeasurable,” said Gail Kloss, WRCNM Executive Director.

In her work and daily life, Krajewski has been a person who brings hope, encouragement, and light to others through a unique sense of humanity, genuine warmth of spirit, and commitment to creating a better world.

Kloss said of Krajewski’s three decades with the agency, “Every single day, Chris showed up for the people who needed it most in our community. We are grateful she chose to share her unique gifts with WRCNM to help make our community a safer, kinder, and more compassionate place. We wish her all the best on her amazing, continued journey.”

Women’s Resource Center of Northern Michigan, a non-profit organization founded in 1977, is committed to improving the quality of life for women, children, and families in Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet, and Otsego counties.
