Comins woman charged with assault, weapons violations

OSCODA COUNTY – On Thursday, April 27 at approximately 8:23 p.m. a trooper from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Alpena Post was called to a residence on Reber Road in Comins Township for a report of an altercation.

According to a statement from MSP, a trooper spoke with 54-year-old Brenda Marie Kowalski from Comins. Kowalski stated she had a verbal altercation with several people next door and pointed a rifle towards them. The victims and witnesses at the scene confirmed Kowalski pointed the rifle and made threats during the altercation.

The trooper seized a .22 caliber bolt-action rifle and several rounds of ammunition. Kowalski was arrested and lodged in the Oscoda County Jail

Kowalski was arraigned in the 81st District Court in Oscoda County for two counts Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and two counts Felony Firearms.

She was given a $50,000 10% cash surety bond.
