Editor’s note: Jordan Carrick from Houghton Lake was arraigned in the 82nd District Court in Roscommon County on one count of Home Invasion Second Degree, and Malicious Destruction of Property.  He was released on a $10,000 cash surety bond. His next court appearance is on April 12 at 9 a.m.

HOUGHTON LAKE – On March 27, 2023, at approximately 5:30am, troopers from theMSP Houghton Lake Post were dispatched to the North Shore Lounge in Houghton Lake to investigate a Breaking andEntering (B&E) of the business.

The suspect fled the scene after making entry to the tavern due to the audible alarm.  The security system was able to capture images of the suspect inside the tavern during the incident.  The suspect was nowhere to be found when troopers arrived to investigate the incident.

At 1:33pm the same day, troopers were dispatched to E. Houghton Lake Drive for a Home Invasion in progress.  This address is nearby the previous B&E of the tavern taken earlier in the day.  The home’s security system alerted the owners of the break-in and was able to capture video footage of the suspect inside the home.

The neighbor to the residence observed the male suspect force entry into the home and was able to photograph him and his vehicle.  The photos and video were immediately disseminated to responding troopers.

Troopers started to canvass the area and came across a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle backed into a driveway on W. Shore Drive in Houghton Lake. Images of thesuspect’s license plate were obtained from witnesses. The image of the registered owner of the suspect vehicle matched the person from the video taken from inside the Home Invasion on E. Houghton Lake Drive.

Troopers contacted the 33-year-old male suspect from Houghton Lake. He was arrested and lodged in the Roscommon County Jail without incident.  Troopers are continuing the investigation to establish whether the incidents are related
