Captain Jennifer Johnson promoted to District Commander

GAYLORD – The Michigan State Police is proud to announce the promotion of Captain Jennifer Johnson as the Michigan State Police (MSP) Seventh District Commander. As the district commander, Captain Johnson will be responsible for coordination and provision of state police activities and services within the district. She will evaluate the activities of each work site within the district and work with work site commanders to maximize crime prevention, traffic safety, and community outreach efforts.

Captain Johnson grew up downstate in Allen Park. She earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at Michigan State University. Captain Johnson began her career with the MSP on May 21,1995, as a member of the 112th Trooper Recruit School. Her first post assignment was at the Rockford Post as a trooper. Through her career she has served in Lansing, Taylor, and Paw Paw. Captain Johnson is also a graduate of the 12th class of the Michigan State University School of Staff and Command.

In her new role she will be based at MSP Seventh District Headquarters in Gaylord and will oversee district operations in the northern lower peninsula.
