Missing Denton woman found in Houghton Lake

HOUGHTON LAKE – The body of a local woman was found in the waters of Houghton Lake April 26.

Christy Jackson was reported missing from Denton Township on April 7.

Roscommon County Undersheriff Ben Lowe said in a release the department has been requesting assistance through social media the past few weeks in an effort to locate her.

“We would like to thank all who assisted over the last many days of searching,” Lowe said. “Thank you to all local police agencies who assisted in search efforts.

Assisting were Northern Michigan Mutual Aid Search and Rescue and K9 Teams, Alpena County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team, Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team, Antrim County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team, Michigan State Police Dive Team and K9 Teams, as well as private pilots, private search teams and community members who worked tirelessly to recover Jackson.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Christy’s family and loved ones as they grieve through their loss” Lowe added.

The incident is under investigation.
