ROSCOMMON COUNTY – A Brownfield Redevelopment Authority (BRA) has been established) to develop and implement brownfield projects. A BRA is a resource that may use Tax Increment Financing (TIF) as a tool for the rehabilitation and development of contaminated property.
The Authority met on January 9 to elect an executive board and to receive an overview of Act PA 381. They will be establishing their by-laws and rules of order at their next meeting.

In the coming months identifying potential Brownfield sites will be a priority. Properties will need to be included in the Roscommon County BRA’s Brownfield Plan. The properties will need to be declared contaminated, blighted, functionally obsolete, part of a targeted redevelopment area, or considered historic. These sites will be listed on the new Roscommon County Economic Development website as potential properties to target for redevelopment.
