Boater missing in Leelenau

NORTHPORT – On Wednesday August 14, 2019, The Michigan State Police Cadillac Post, at the request of the U.S. Coast Guard, located a watercraft which had beached itself near a residence off E Ingalls Bay Rd in Northport, MI.

The watercraft’s owner, Terry Eugene Warren, a 57-year-old male from the Northport area, was observed by witnesses leaving the Northport Marina around 4 PM and the boat was located at 6 PM with no one aboard. It is believed at this time that Warren was the sole occupant and had possibly fallen overboard while under way.  The watercraft came ashore unmanned and police have been unable to locate Warren at this time.

The Michigan State Police Cadillac Post, United State Coast Guard, and local agencies from Leelanau County will continue to search.

Anyone with information is asked to please contact the Michigan State Police Cadillac Post at 231-779-6040 or Leelanau County Dispatch at 231-256-8800.
