211 Registration assistance available

ROSCOMMON – Local nonprofits serving residents of Roscommon County are invited to learn more about 211 and receive assistance registering their organization in their database. At the Aug. 15, 9 a.m. Roscommon County Collaborative meeting, to be held at the Courthouse (500 Lake St. Roscommon), 211 Northeast Michigan’s Operations and Database Manager will present information on 211 and the importance of an accurate and current database.

Following the meeting, nonprofits will have an opportunity to sit down with 211 staff to receive assistance registering their organization or to update current organizational information. According to United Way’s Cherrie Benchley, “The number one reason people do not receive the help they need is they do not know where to turn. Consistently, people are looking for food, help with housing, medical transportation etc. 211 is available 24/7 to help people looking for assistance; it’s also free and confidential.”

In order for the connection between people needing help and 211 to work there must accurate information; which is where each organization that serves people plays a critical role. The most current information must be registered with 211. “We encourage local nonprofit staff to attend the Aug. 15 meeting to learn more and receive assistance,” said Hollie Hawkins, 211 N.E. MI Operations and Database Manager. “We look forward to working with the local nonprofits and helping to meet the needs of residents of Roscommon County communities.”
