ANN ARBOR – Festivities will be happening all weekend long at YMCA Camp Al-Gon-Quian (AGQ), in celebration of 50 years of the Y at Camp. Since 1967, AGQ has been owned and run by the Ann Arbor YMCA, a non-profit organization whose mission is to support and develop young people, to encourage healthy living, and to be socially responsible. The Y is committed to preserving and continually improving the Camp property and to making AGQ available to kids whose families cannot afford to send them to summer camp. Each year, 15% of AGQ campers receive ‘camperships,’ including specific scholarships for kids from Indian River. AGQ’ address is 9928 M-68, Burt Lake, MI 49717.
Bikers and runners may sign up individually or in teams of 4, 5 and 6 to travel the 40 miles around Burt Lake on Sunday July 22. The event will start at 7:00 am from the Director’ Cabin at 9200 Rogers Road, Burt Lake MI 49717 and finish at the same location with a short kid’ fun run from the Director’ Cabin to the flag pole of Camp with all participants to celebrate 50 years of Camp. The cost is $50/person, $200 for a team of four, $250 for a team of 5 and $300 for a team of 6. Proceeds benefit the Capital Campaign for Camp Al-Gon-Quian and are tax deductible.
