United Way source for 115k in grants

ROSCOMMON COUNTY – Through the American Rescue Plan funding received by Roscommon County and distributed by the County Board of Commissioners, Roscommon County United Way was allocated $115,000 for the Nonprofit Sustainability Fund. The goal of the Fund is to assist small local nonprofits to recover from the pandemic.

To be eligible the agency must be a health and human service organization in good standing with IRS, have an operational budget of less than $75,000 and serve Roscommon County residents. Maximum amount any agency will be allocated is $7,500. The amount of the allocation will be based on the amount of revenue lost as determined by the 990 documentations, numbers served, and need of agency.

Just as many small businesses have suffered economic hardship due to the pandemic, many nonprofits have suffered. Nonprofits lost revenue because they were unable to conduct annual fundraising events, and donation drives because of COVID-19. While the nonprofits were short on funding, they were often tasked with serving increased community needs, resulting in unmet needs, and burdening the administration of the organization. The purpose of the nonprofit sustainability fund is to help small local nonprofits recover and continue to serve families and individuals as needed.
