HOUGHTON LAKE – Big Brothers / Big Sisters (BBBS) of the Lakes matches enjoyed getting together on Wednesday, April 11 at the Backus Twp. Hall to learn about the ARK (Association to Rescue Kritters), wildlife, birds of prey, and much more.
Matches enjoyed taking part in the ARK’ Birds of Prey Educational Program and enjoyed meeting the birds: Lazlo the Barred Owl, Boudica the Great Horned Owl and Monique the American Kestrel.
Bigs and Littles took part in dissecting owl pellets to discover what their last meal was. Matches discovered some had eaten a small rodent such as a mouse, while others had eaten shrews. BBBS would like to thank the ARK and their volunteers for hosting this activity for the matches and for providing such a valuable service to the area and our wildlife.
BBBS matches also brought donations for the ARK from their Wish List to help support the rescue of wildlife.
