High school sweethearts celebrate 60 years of marriage

ROSCOMMON – It was Oct. 26, 1957 when high school sweet hearts Bruce Lorion and Janette Siderman married and started a life long journey together at St. Elizabeth Church in Gerrish Township.

They celebrated their 60-year journey on Saturday, Oct. 28 with friends and family at the VFW in Roscommon. After eating dinner Bruce and Janette cut into a wedding cake that had their original wedding cake topper from 1957.

Bruce was a founding member of the Fire Fighters Memorial in Roscommon and served as President for 27 years, he also owned Bruce’ Arco and Car Wash, and worked at Camp Grayling for 23 years retiring as road and grounds supervisor in 1997. Janette graduated in 1955 from Gerrish Higgins High School as the Salutatorian of her class then attended Central Michigan University studying math and education. Janette worked for the Department of Social Services for 33 years, retiring in 1997.

Bruce and Janette Lorion have two children, Deb Donnelly and the late Charlie Lorion along with five grand children, seven great grand children and three foster grand children.
