History archives – artist visits Roscommon schools in mid 70s

ROSCOMMON–Eric Lockerman, a grad student at Olivet College, was preparing for his Master’ show and brought several of his modern paintings and loaned them to different classrooms while he was here. High School principal, Ed Harkens, had him set up his easel in the lobby and start a painting which students observed and questioned him about while they were changing classes.

He also visited Karen Denyas’ evening painting class at Kirtland Community College.

He was sponsored by the Roscommon Chamber Music Society/Art Council through an ‘Artist In Residence’ grant from the Michigan Council for the Arts.
