ROSCOMMON COUNTY–Swarming over Michigan’s Other Great Lakes (Houghton Lake, Higgins Lake, and Lake St. Helen) were families instilling the the love of fishing to the next generation. The second annual Family Fishing Fest was a great success on Free Fishing Weekend this month.
Many volunteers assisted at the lakes over the weekend and youths and adults received many great prizes, including tackle boxes and poles, for their catches.
Assisting at Higgins Lake were the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and Roscommon County Sheriff Department Marine Patrol. The event not only promoted fishing, but water safety as well.
Games and give-a-ways were hosted at each site.
