ST. HELEN – When the Charlton Heston Academy (CHA) decided to host

this year’ prom, its Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO) chose make costs more reasonable for the families by helping with the cost of haircuts and accessories.

‘The PTO made an emergency decision to pay for the girls’ hair to be done by local salons. Originally, all three salons in town jumped on board, helping us by doing an overall cost for us, but because of the date some had to cancel because prior obligations,’ Tracy Cruz, PTO president said.

Sarah Kay Rondo, owner of Classic Cuts and stylist Kathy Helwig spent the entire day making sure each young lady’s hair was perfect for the prom.

‘The theme was ‘The Great Gatsby’,’ said Helwig. ‘The 1920styles are so much fun to work with.’

After the PTO let school officials in on what was going on, CHA decided to pay for the young mens’ tuxes as well.

‘It was all quite amazing and quick,’ said Cruz, ‘and we are thankful that the school decided to do the tuxes. CHA is such a great school and we are glad to be able to play a part in the wonderful things that CHA has to offer.’
