HALE– On May 22, the Hale American Legion Auxiliary Unit 422 honored the Hale Teachers and school children who make cards for our veterans who reside in nursing homes in Hale and Tawas throughout the year by making special cards on holidays thanking them for their service and their freedom. One hundred and fifty children received small American Flags, and eighteen teachers received certificates of appreciation. The local veterans treasure the cards made by the children. Pictured is the kindergarten class with their teacher, Melissa Bloomquist and Parapro, Melanie Gilbert, along with American Legion Auxiliary members, Marlen Polishak and Lynda Otey.
