Get out the brooms: Grayling cleanup scheduled

GRAYLING – Head to downtown Grayling and lend a hand in part of Grayling Main Street’s annual Spring Clean Up event on May 25.

Volunteers, city staff, business owners, and Main Street volunteers will be joining forces to spend the day sprucing up main street in preparation for tourist season by setting up patio furniture and planters, cleaning walkways and flowerbeds, repainting the latest feature downtown – the paddles in the crosswalks – and other spring clean up tasks that will help beautify the district.

The Main Street program has been coordinating with small business and property owners in the district to help them narrow down tasks that volunteers can help them accomplish on this day. Work will also be taking place on the island situated at the start of the 100 block of Michigan Avenue, where a new city clock is due to be installed, as well as along the Business Loop to clean the number of pavilions along the roadway.

Volunteers are needed to help execute various tasks, some as simple as cleaning flower beds and others tasks as critical as helping put together new patio furniture. To volunteer, email downtowngrayling@gmail.com or call 989-390-7689 to sign up. Sign up isn’t required, but will help event coordinators plan ahead to make sure all of the tasks for the day will get executed. Lunch will be provided for volunteers.
