Free STEM camps opening at COOR

ROSCOMMON — Registration opens Thursday, May 1, for the Summer STEM Career Exploration Camps hosted by the Crawford-Oscoda-Ogemaw-Roscommon Intermediate School District (COOR ISD) and NE MiSTEM Region 12.

The camps are free, fun, and open to students entering grades 7–12 who live within the district. Students can explore hands-on career experiences in fields like healthcare, welding, automotive, coding, drones, bridge building, forestry, childcare, and more.

New this year: Transportation will be provided from local middle schools to the COOR ATIC center and back.

“Our goal is to engage students with real-world skills and connect them with professionals in these industries,” said Laura Percival, Director of MiSTEM Region 12. “These camps showcase the many career opportunities available right in our communities.”

In addition to COOR ISD camps, students can also explore regional programs such as “Learn to Snorkel” at Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary and “Future Nurses” and “Exploring Electricity” at Kirtland Community College.
