Cheboygan troopers help with Christmas wish

CHEBOYGAN COUNTY -The State Trooper Outreach Partnership (STOP) teamed up with the Michigan State Police (MSP) St. Ignace and Gaylord Posts Nov. 30 to fulfill a Christmas wish for a very special young lady, Summer Lahaie.

Summer is nine years old and has a terminal illness that has taken a toll on her everyday life. One of her Christmas wishes was to participate in Shop with a Hero with state troopers. F/Lt. Groya, the post commander at the MSP St. Ignace Post, learned that Summer also wanted a Mac Book for Christmas for schoolwork and gaming. Troopers being troopers, we made her two wishes come true. The St. Ignace Post collected money to put towards a new Mac Book, while F/Lt. Groya contacted Best Buy, and STOP to cover the rest.

Troopers gave Summer a police escort to Walmart, shopped with her, had a pizza party, wrapped presents, and gave her the special gift of a Mac Book. Not only was this a great day for Summer, but it was also a heartwarming day for the troopers to see the joy on her face. Summer told her mother yesterday was the best day of her life! Thank you F/Lt. Groya for organizing this event.

A special thanks to Walmart of Cheboygan, Best Buy of Traverse City, Duncan City Pizza of Cheboygan, State Trooper Outreach Partnership – Gaylord Chapter, MSP St. Ignace and MSP Gaylord Posts for the donations and hard work on this event.
