Zonta of Petoskey Area seeks applicants for ‘Young women in public affairs’

PETOSKEY, MI – Applications for the 2022 Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award are now available from the Zonta Club of Petoskey Area. One applicant from the Petoskey/Harbor Springs area will receive a $1,000 grant from the Zonta Club of Petoskey Area and then be recommended for a district/region award. Applications are available at www.zontapetoskey.com.

The goal of the Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award Program is to encourage more young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing a young woman’s commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women.

Applicants are asked to reflect on their voluntary commitment to their school and to their community and the problems limiting the advancement of the status of women in their own country and worldwide. The Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs Award Program looks to the young women of today for the leaders of tomorrow.

Applications are due March 15, 2022 and should be mailed to YWPA ChairCourtney Font. Application can be downloaded at zontapetoskey.com. Download the application, fill out and mail to Zonta Club of Petoskey, c/o Courtney Font, 267 Creekside Dr., Suite 300, Petoskey, MI 49770, or bring in person and drop off in the secure lock box by the door. No email applications please. Applicants of age 16-19 on 1st April each year, living in Emmet County are eligible to apply for the Petoskey grant. For other clubs in Michigan, go to zonta15.org.

The local recipient is considered for a district/region award of $1,000 and their application is submitted to be considered for an International Award. Ten district/region award recipients receive an additional $4,000 International Award.
