CADILLAC – Michigan State Police (MSP) Tpr. Marc Moore, assigned to the Cadillac Post, received the department’s Meritorious Award during an Employee Recognition ceremony in Lansing today, Monday, July 12.
The award highlights his unwavering determination investigating the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl, which led uncovering similar crimes. Moore became aware of the initial assault in August 2019.
The suspect, a 26-year-old male, was living in the home with her family and Moore determined the assaults had been occurring for several months.
Through his comprehensive investigation, including record reviews and interviews, Moore identified and located 11 additional, underage, female survivors. The crimes crossed three counties and go back as far as 10 years. The girls ranged in ages 12 to 15 at the time of the assaults.
Working with the Attorney General’s Office, the suspect was charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct.
“Without the persistence of Tpr. Marc Moore, the overall investigation may not have been as extensive as it was,” said F/Lt. Keck, commander of the Cadillac Post. “Because of his diligence, additional survivors were identified, and a pattern of abuse was stopped.”
Moore enlisted with the MSP on May 21, 1995, graduating as a member of the 112th Trooper Recruit School and was assigned to the Cadillac Post.
