ROSCOMMON – MSU Extension 4-H is offering a Forestry Camp in July for youth ages 11-15 with a desire to learn about forestry and forest ecosystems.
This fun and interactive four-day camp gives youth the opportunity to learn all about forestry in Michigan, including tree identification, forest measurements, careers, compass basics, forest health (insects, diseases, and invasive species), and ecosystem management. Games and a field trip to a sawmill and timber harvest are also planned.
Camp dates are July 22-25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (no overnights). Participants need to bring a bag lunch each day. The location of the camp will be at the Marguerite Gahagan Nature Preserve in Roscommon. Cost is $25, plus a $20 4-H participation fee for youth who are not already enrolled in 4-H. Deadline for registration is July 17.
