HOUGHTON LAKE – The Houghton Lake High School Interact club is planning another service trip in March 2019 to El Salvador to build homes in the mountains for those in great need, The cost for each student to participate is $1050 for the 9-day journey. There will be 18 students attending the trip. Interact members have participated in a number of fund raisers recently:
- The HLHS Interactors were recently hired to wash Nester Auto Group of Houghton Lake’s entire inventory of cars.
- Two regular car washes were held this summer at O’Reillys in Houghton Lake.
- Interact sponsored two garage sales: one at Collins Elementary and one held at St. John Lutheran Church.
- They ran Concessions at three events this summer: Movie in the Park, Shake the Lake, and at a high school volleyball tournament.
- Interact sponsors an on-going Returnable Can & Bottle Collection at Vic Bond Sales 24/7 by dropping of bagged empties at their back entrance. (Students are also individually collecting Returnable Cans & Bottles.)
Interact also has a T-shirt sponsorship fundraiser underway; students are working toward t-shirts for the club where businesses and community members can sponsor them with their name being placed on the shirt in three monetary levels.
